How long is the frame warranty on my building?

It depends on your frame. 14-gauge frames carry a 5-year no-rust warranty, with full replacement and installation in year 1 and free replacement parts in years 2 to 5. 12-gauge frames carry a 20-year no-rust warranty, with full replacement and installation in years 1 and 2 and free replacement parts in years 3 to 20.

What does the paint warranty cover?

Sheet metal is coated with Sherwin-Williams paint backed by a 20-year limited paint warranty. It does not cover chemicals, salts, or damage to the metal that causes the paint to chip, fade, bubble or peel.

Are roof leaks covered?

Yes. Leaks where the roof metal is fastened to the frame are covered for one year. Overlaps on horizontal roof metal are not covered, and buildings longer than 36 feet need a vertical roof to qualify for warranty coverage.

How long are doors covered?

Walk-in and roll-up doors are covered for 90 days for manufacturing defects and for opening, closing or fastening problems. Knobs, locks, latches, handles and rust are covered under the 1-year maintenance warranty. After 90 days, we can send a contractor to adjust a door for a $50 return trip fee.

What voids my warranty?

Any alteration made to the building after installation voids all warranties. That includes electrical, plumbing, aftermarket doors, shelving, insulation and interior finishing such as drywall or wood paneling. Customer-supplied anchors void the wind warranty.

What anchors come with my building?

Every building is installed with standard rebar anchors, which do not include a wind warranty. For wind coverage, choose the upgraded anchor package with anchors, braces and supports. It adds a 20-year wind warranty. Customer-supplied anchors void the wind warranty.

Do I need a vertical roof for warranty coverage?

Any building longer than 36 feet needs a vertical roof to qualify for warranty coverage. Vertical roofs are rated for a 35 lb per square foot snow load and shed rain and debris better than horizontal roofs.

14-Gauge vs. 12-Gauge Frame Coverage

Your frame warranty depends on the steel you choose. Both cover rust on the frame, with full replacement and installation up front, then free replacement parts for the rest of the term.

How Anchors and Roof Style Affect Coverage

Carport Anchors: Standard vs. Upgraded

Every building is installed with standard rebar anchors. They hold the building in place, but they do not include a wind warranty.

The upgraded anchor package adds anchors, braces and supports and gives your building a 20-year wind warranty. With the proper anchors and bracing, 14-gauge buildings are rated for 120 mph winds and 12-gauge buildings for 140 mph.

Vertical vs. Horizontal Roofs

On a vertical roof, the panels run from the peak down to the eave, so rain and debris slide right off. All vertical roof buildings are rated for a 35 lb per square foot snow load.

Horizontal roofs work on shorter buildings. Any building longer than 36 feet needs a vertical roof to qualify for warranty coverage, and overlaps on horizontal roof panels are not covered for leaks.

Walk-In and Roll-Up Doors

For 90 days after installation, we repair or replace walk-in and roll-up doors with a manufacturing defect, or that do not open, close or fasten properly. Report any damage you notice at installation right away.

Good to know: walk-in doors open outward only, and roll-up door latches and handles are installed on the outside. As a new building settles over its first few weeks, doors may feel tighter. That is normal.

What Voids Your Warranty

Any alteration you make to the building after it is installed voids all warranties. That includes, but is not limited to:

Electrical or plumbing work
Aftermarket doors
Shelving or insulation
Interior finishing such as drywall or wood paneling

East Texas Carports does not cover damage to other property caused by building failure or client negligence.
